In the late years of the Western Zhou Dynasty, the fatuous ruler, King You of Zhou, is compelled by the seductive concubine Bao Si to set up a God Creation Tower that causes rampant acts of demons and a hellish time for the people. To end the tragic era, Han Ji is ordered by his master to eliminate demons and assist Zishang to defeat the King. However, they never expect that Bao Si is backed by the Immortal, Yuanming Holy Lord. The God Creation Tower is determined to be built. The world is once again in crisis... Cruel tyrants who fight in battles, powerful heroes across the nation, noble beauties that cannot be reached... A plague-like wind blows across the arid, sandy expanse of a post-apocalyptic Japan. As it sweeps over the living and nonliving alike, rust is all that remains in its wake. The cause of the catastrophic state of the world is believed to be mushroom spores. Bisco Akaboshi, known as the "Man-Eating Mushroom," is a wanted criminal archer whose arrows instantly grow mushrooms wherever they land. However, he is in truth a "Mushroom Protector," a person who spreads fungi in order to enrich the land and return it to its previous state. Alongside the crab Akutagawa and young doctor Milo Nekoyanagi, Bisco ventures through the wastelands of Japan searching for the legendary "Sabikui"—a panacean mushroom said to devour all forms of rust.

Yotsuya Yuusuke along with his classmates Shindou Iu and Hakozaki Kusue have been transported to a strange and unknown world inhabited by mythological creatures. As soon as they arrive, they meet somebody calling himself the Game Master who then grants them a time-limited quest. To aid them in this quest, he also bestows Shindou and Hakozaki with the roles of a Magician and a Warrior while Yotsuya is randomly granted the role of... a Farmer?! This is how a hectic life of adventuring began for three students who now have no choice, but to complete random quests for several phases in the fantasy world if they want to stay alive and protect the real world from the demons and monsters they encounter.
