Many years in the future after the exploits of Yugi Mutou, Domino City has become a shadow of its former self: Neo Domino City. There lies a strong divide between the rich and the poor, and bridging that gap proves to be difficult. Neo Domino seems fit to entertain itself with a wild new event called “Riding Duels”, the newest form of playing the ever popular Duel Monsters card game. Enter Yusei Fudou, a young man who lives on the edge of the law, making his own rules. His desire to reclaim what is rightly his from an old friend turns into much more than what he and many of his newfound companions called “Signers” would have ever bargained for.

Sawada Tsunayoshi, or Tsuna, our male protagonist, is not good at either studies nor sports. So he gets a tutor who goes by the name of Reborn. Surprisingly, he is a baby and his purpose is to shape Tsuna into the full-fledged 10th boss of the Vongole Family. Reborn teaches Tsuna via shooting him with a Deathperation bullet. Those shot by such a bullet are revived to fulfill their dying will.

Kobayakawa Sena is a little guy who always get picked on by the bullies in school. Since elementary school, he always play the role of the errand boy to the extent that he has become swift and fast in his movements. Coincidentally, Hiruma Youichi and Kurita Ryukan are looking for a fast running back for their American Football team (Amefuto) and want to put Sena in the team. To hide their new star player from the eyes of other High Schools, Hiruma encases Sena in a Amefuto helmet with a dark visor and name him Eyeshield #21.
